Every month GIA has seminars and invites professors and lawyers to give their valuable inputs. GIA hold discussions on upcoming social issues which are ailing our country.
Being the co-convener of GIA(Group of Intellectuals & Academicians), Lalita Nijhawan has been encouraging the women in her GIA group, who are mostly professors and lawyers to shine in their chosen fields and work for the betterment of the society.
GIA held a seminar in July 2015 about ‘National Education Policy: Desired Changes’. As a member of GIA, she has been taking up women’s issues especially regarding the victims of molestation and brutal rapes. The August 2015 seminar held and discussed ‘Challenges for Women in the 21st century’.
Another seminar was held in September 2015 on ‘Women Laws and Violence’. In November 2015 seminar was held on Uniform Civil Code. At the tail end of 2015, the seminar of the GIA debated on issue of intolerance, which had engulfed the nation. GIA’s “SMILE INDIA” campaign launched from its Facebook page met with phenomenal success. Every month GIA has seminars and invites professors and lawyers to give their valuable inputs.
Seminar at the Constitution Club of India on Terrorism in Kerala. The speakers Meenakshi Lekhi (Lok Sabha MP), Kiren Rijiju (MoS), Nand Kumar ji, Monika Arora (Supreme Court lawyer) and other important members of Navodayam along with GIA spoke on the evils of terrorism which gets unnoticed by the media. GIA members Namita Gandhi, Prerna Malhotra, and Lalita Nijhawan compered the programme. The brutalities in Kerala have no parallel.
The seminar covered all the current issues effecting our society ineptly. The discussion ended with must and favoured solutions to the issues.

Members of GIA met chairperson National Commission for Women, Smt. Lalitha Kumarmanglam and gave a representation stating that we, the women of India wanted to help the victims of Nepal earthquake and especially the women who have their peculiar problems because of their gender. Members of GIA collected lakhs of rupees to be sent to Nepal earthquake victims.
